thankful turkeys

It's hard teaching my kids what the meaning of thankful is because I'm not good with words. I know words, but I'm not good at coming up with synonyms to help my kids understand what different words mean. I am great at copying people's ideas and reteaching things I've learned, but not so great at being creative and coming up with ideas on my own.

I found a really cute idea of making a craft while having the kids tell me what they're thankful for. It was so funny listening to the different things they came up with. It made me laugh so hard. I think we'll do something like this every year. I want to help them learn to be more thankful, and I also want to record the funny things they say as they grow up!

Isaiah's thankful turkey:
Isaiah's thankful feathers say he is thankful for:
giving toys to others
snacks everyday
getting a new house
horses
toys
presents
bike
more apples

Some of the things Isaiah was thankful for that didn't make the turkey feathers:
candy
puzzles

Elias' thankful turkey:
Elias' thankful feathers say he is thankful for:
cutting and coloring
cake
mommy and daddy
snacks
mowing the lawn
moving to Idaho
not getting hurt
toys

Elias was hilarious while doing this. He was looking all around the house trying to find things to be thankful for.
Some of the things Elias was thankful for that didn't make the turkey feathers:
not getting burned in a fire (no idea where this came from)
a new house with new windows and new stairs
a fan
a "forse" (horse)
leaves
trees

This craft took awhile with these little guys, but it was a good way to spend our Monday.
