sunriver 2011 - part two

The boys love our tiny pool at home. They can stand. Their heads don't go under water. They don't need a life jacket. Every time we've gone swimming in anything larger than 5 feet in diameter and 12 inches tall, they cling to us as if their lives depended on it. It is NOT enjoyable. Seriously, they would wrap their chubby little arms as tight as they could around our necks. I am not a great swimmer, so it was very difficult for me to stay afloat.
This changed at Sunriver! The boys had so much fun playing in the water, and we had fun not drowning under clinging arms! The boys were so much more daring. They had life jackets on and would jump into the pool without demanding us to be 6 inches away. They splashed, put their heads under water, and laughed the whole time. It was fabulous.

sunriver 2011 - part one

We spent Father's Day weekend in Sunriver with Bryan's family. It was a ton of fun, and I hope it's something we do every year! Jerad and Jami came from California just to hang out with us all.

Our time was spent:

the cure

I've had the grumps. I mean serious grumps.

Call it stress, pms, exhaustion, leaving Idaho blues - whatever. I've just been grumpy all week.

Today was the perfect cure to said grumpiness.
I slept in while Bryan took the boys out for donuts.
I updated my blog.
Played with pictures on my computer.
Went for a run.
Played outside in the sunshine with the boys.
Bryan made us steak for dinner.
We ended dinner with homemade vanilla ice cream with strawberries and fudge on top.

Now, I'm sitting here, sipping coffee, editing photos. This day is what I needed. Relaxation. Alone time. Coffee. Sunshine. Exercise. Food. No work.

Thank you Lord for this amazing day and for helping me pull myself out of this grumpy fog I've been living in.

My mom and I took Eden and the boys to the Portland Children's Museum in June because they had a Curious George exhibit. The kids LOVE Curious George. The museum was VERY busy, but we had a great time.

I'm so slow on my picture updating lately. This was back in June - our first nice day to be able to play in the pool!

They obviously had a blast. And so did I because I saw sun!

2 Corinthians 12:9

But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.


I'm thanking the Lord for giving me this verse today. I'm struggling right now keeping up with my home life and my work life. I just feel like I'm doing a terrible job at both, but working my tail off.

I keep telling myself that I am just no good at this "mom" thing and this "work" thing. I've been wallowing in self pity and trying to figure out what my life is supposed to look like....because well, it doesn't look so pretty right now. 


That's where I am at today. I'm looking at my weaknesses (there are a lot!) as an opportunity for God to move. 

So, here I am God. Use this crippled child of yours!
